Help Kids Learn at Mass with Weekly Bulletins
Can Kids Learn at Mass?
Each week, we bring our kids to Mass (or watch it on TV… shoutout to quarantine days) and hope they learn something positive. But let’s be honest—some days it feels like all they learn is how to sit still and space out for an hour… or how to turn a pen cap they found on the floor into a makeshift rocket. While both of those are technical skills (maybe??), I really want them to learn about God at Catholic Mass. That’s why I created Catholic Kids Bulletins (in English & Spanish) and I hope they help your kids learn and grow at Mass too!
Using Catholic Kids Bulletins
The weekly Catholic Kids Bulletins are always available at least a week before the month they’re needed—usually even earlier. You can download them from my Teachers Pay Teachers store. If you subscribe using the form on the left, I’ll email you when the new set is ready.
Teachers probably know all about TPT, but for parents: to download from Teachers Pay Teachers, you’ll need to create a free account. Once you’re in, you can download my bulletins—and a TON of other great resources to help teach your kids about God (and pretty much everything else).
I use these bulletins as an intro activity for each week of Faith Formation (CCD, Religious Ed, etc.), and I also print them for my kids to draw/color/learn with during Sunday Mass. They’re designed to be printed front-and-back and folded in half to make a small booklet.
What Kids Will Learn About Mass
At the top of each bulletin, you’ll find the Sunday date, the liturgical season, and the liturgical color. It’s a great way for kids to start recognizing the Church’s liturgical cycle and pick up on the visual clues we see at Mass.
Psalm Handwriting & Word Search
On the front page, the Psalm for the week is printed in dotted text so kids can trace the words. That means they’re practicing handwriting and thinking about God’s Word—win-win!
The random letters around the Psalm form a quick word search. The Psalm words are hidden in order, starting from the top of the box. This helps kids learn the Psalm so they’re ready to participate in the Responsorial Psalm during Mass.
Quick heads-up: Sometimes the Psalm words might be slightly different from what’s sung at your church. That’s normal! The meaning stays the same even if the wording varies a little depending on the music setting.
Information About Mass
The bottom of the front page offers a quick tip about the Mass—something for your kids to watch and listen for. Some lessons are connected to the Psalm, the Gospel, or a featured saint. Other months have themed lessons, like Advent or Lent.
Saint of the Week
My favorite part? The Saint of the Week! Each bulletin highlights a saint whose feast day falls during that month. There’s a picture to color and a short bio about the saint.
In the June bulletins, your kids will learn about four different saints.
- Saint Juliana Falconieri & a Eucharistic miracle
- Saint Anthony & a hidden picture search
- Saint Aloysius Gonzaga & his love of learning about the faith
- Saint Charles Lwanga & his courageous martyrdom
Since each bio is short, I keep some details intentionally vague. For example, with Saint Charles Lwanga, I mention his martyrdom and include flames in the picture—because he was burned to death—but I leave out the graphic details. That way, you can decide how much of the story you want to share, especially with younger kids.
Gospel Activity Page
The inside of the bulletin features an activity page based on the Sunday Gospel. I mix up the activities each week so your kids can find something they enjoy while learning about the Gospel message.
My kids love mazes and dot-to-dots, so I include those often. Let me know if your kids have a favorite type of activity—I’d love to include it!
At the top of this page, there are simple images that follow the order of the Mass. This helps kids understand the flow of the liturgy and gives them a sense of “where we are” and “what’s coming next.” It’s been great for keeping my kids calm and focused during Mass.
Whether you’re using them at home, in the classroom, or during Sunday Mass, Catholic Kids Bulletins are a simple and meaningful way to help children connect with the beauty of the Catholic faith. With engaging activities, saint stories, and Gospel reflections, kids can learn more about God while participating in the liturgy. Plus, every bulletin is available in both English and Spanish—making it easy to reach and inspire more families. Thank you for helping your kids grow in faith, one Sunday at a time!
Let me know if you have any questions about any parts of the bulletin.
I hope it’s helping start great discussions to help your kids learn at Mass!
