This page has detailed descriptions of the bulletins if they want more information.
1. Mass Companion
The bulletins are perfect for keeping kids focused during Mass. With activities like coloring, word searches, and Bible-based puzzles, children can follow the readings and Gospel while learning hands-on. This helps make the liturgy more meaningful and age-appropriate for them.
2. Classroom Tool
Teachers can use these bulletins in religious education classes to dive deeper into the Sunday readings. The activities reinforce scripture learning, making it an interactive way for students to reflect on what they’ve learned and apply it in their lives. These can also serve as take-home resources for further reflection. This is my FAVORITE bell-ringer for Faith Formation. I’ve even used it with older kids–the activities are really easy for them, but it’s an easy way to get them thinking about the Mass! If your students are getting too old for the bulletins, these slides are another great bell ringer to get class started on a positive and faith-filled activity.
3. Family Discussions
After Mass, parents can use the bulletins to guide family discussions. Each bulletin offers a great opportunity to talk about the readings, homily, and how the lessons can be applied to everyday life. This encourages children to understand and share their faith within the family unit.
4. Saint Study
Since the bulletins feature a saint of the week, these can be a great way to introduce children to the lives of the saints. Kids can learn about the saint’s virtues and stories, and parents or teachers can lead discussions on how to emulate these virtues in their daily lives. Throughout the week, you can add the saint of the week to a litany. If your kids love the coloring pages, you can get full-page images of all the saints in the bulletins, PLUS some extras in this huge coloring book.
5. Bible Memory
You can use Catholic Kids Bulletins for Bible memorization! Each bulletin has a Psalm verse on the front. Parents or teachers can challenge children to memorize these verses, making scripture learning interactive and rewarding. This helps kids build a foundation in scripture knowledge in a fun way. The Psalms are short and would be a great start to Bible memorization.
6. Holiday Traditions
Use Catholic Kids Bulletins during Advent, Lent, or other liturgical seasons to help children understand the significance of each period. The bulletins can highlight prayers, traditions, and specific saints celebrated during these times. Pair them with family traditions, such as creating Advent wreaths or performing Lenten sacrifices, to make faith-based holidays more interactive and memorable for kids. I also have a TON of Advent resources to help you build the meaning of the season for your kids!
7. Learn the order of the Liturgy!
The images along the top of each Catholic Kids Bulletin are a great tool for teaching kids the order of the Mass. Before or after Mass, parents and teachers can review these images to familiarize children with the key moments, such as the Liturgy of the Word and Liturgy of the Eucharist. During Mass, kids can follow along with the images to identify each part of the liturgy as it happens. This visual guide helps reinforce their understanding and participation, making the Mass more meaningful and engaging for them. You could also print out an easy reader booklet for kids to use to follow along during Mass.
Catholic Kids Bulletins offer so much more than simple worksheets. They are versatile tools that can help children engage with their faith in a meaningful and enjoyable way, whether at Mass, home, or school. By incorporating these creative ideas, parents and teachers can make the most of this fantastic resource to nurture the faith of the next generation!
