Advent Activity Games That Teach Jesus’ Family Tree and More!
The last week before Christmas break can be a challenge, but I’ve got two low-prep Advent Activities to keep kids engaged while reviewing Advent and Bible lessons from the year!
Advent Trivia & Jesse Tree Bible Bingo are here to help you keep your students engaged and learning. Advent Activity will keep kids focused and having fun even while they count the seconds until the break.
Whether you’re wrapping up your Jesse Tree unit, filling time between Christmas plays, or just looking for a meaningful way to keep kids focused during the excitement of the season, these games will make those final days both productive and enjoyable.
Advent Activity #1: Jesse Tree Bingo
This resource has everything you need for a low-prep, high-impact activity:
- Jesus’ Family Tree Bingo Game
- 40 Bingo cards and calling cards featuring key figures from the Old and New Testaments, including Mary, Joseph, David, Abraham, Ruth, and many others from Jesus’ genealogy.
- Students will learn about these important figures from Jesus’ family tree as they play.
- Genealogy of Jesus Guess Who Game:
- Take the game to the next level with 25 PowerPoint slides with beautiful images of Old Testament and New Testament figures from Jesus’ family tree.
- Each slide comes with 5 editable clues to help students guess the character step by step. Kids will be engaged in reading the hints and watching the image appear (so they’ll be less distracted during the game!)
- The visual calling cards on the slides will help students keep track of who was called, saving you from endless repeats of “What did you say???”
Key Figures Included in Jesse Tree Bingo
This Bingo game covers a rich tapestry of Biblical figures in Jesus’ Family Tree:
- Key Figures in Jesus’ Lineage: Mary, Joseph, David, Ruth, Abraham, Jesse.
- Patriarchs and Matriarchs: Adam, Eve, Isaac, Jacob, Rebekah, and Leah.
- Prophets and Kings: Solomon, Josiah, Hezekiah, Zechariah.
- Faithful Witnesses: Enoch, Methuselah, and Noah.
Advent Activity #2: Advent Trivia
Advent Trivia is a fantastic way to get into the holiday spirit while learning about the traditions and history of this special season! Kids like to feel wise, so any trivia game can be fun. Here’s a set of Advent Trivia that you can use. I’m going to use them as a walk-the-room activity before we play any Advent games with the trivia. Here’s how I’ll use it first in my class.
- Post Question cards around the room and corresponding Information cards nearby.
- Give students a worksheet or notecard to write answers.
- Divide students into pairs or small groups.
- Students walk around, reading the Information cards to find clues and write answers.
- Review answers as a class and discuss the Information cards to deepen understanding.
This Advent activity gets everyone moving, thinking, and celebrating together!
