Advent Lesson Ideas: Easy Plans Before Christmas & Mass Bulletins
Advent Lesson Ideas
Advent begins at the end of November, so it’s time to start thinking of Advent Lesson ideas!
If you need a quick review or Advent lesson idea to help your students remember the season, check out this PowerPoint presentation. There are 23 slides full of information about Advent. This presentation is best as a quick review or an overview for students who are new to the tradition of Advent.
This PowerPoint covers…
Advent’s meaning
Tips for Actively waiting during Advent
A Description and Symbolism of Advent
Traditional names for each candle: Prophecy, Bethlehem, Shepherd, and Angel
Advent Wreath Poster
This Advent Wreath Poster is an important lesson for Advent. I have a poster-sized version of this poster for my classroom, in addition, I distribute normal letter-sized versions to students. The students can hang the poster up at home. This ensures that all students can enjoy the tradition even if their parents don’t have an Advent Wreath at home.
The Advent Wreath Poster also includes traditional meaning for each candle which can be used as a quick lesson plan. Students can read and reflect on the meaning of each candle. They could look at the Mass readings for each weekend or at the Christmas story and to find connections between the candle meaning and the bible.

The FREE Printable Catholic Kids Bulletin worksheets match up to the weekly Mass readings in the Catholic Church. There are coloring pages that match the weekly Gospel reading. There are Mass activities throughout the month, as well as Psalm copy work and a word search. In addition, the order of the liturgy of the Mass along the top of each bulletin also helps kids follow along during Mass. Next, they can learn the order and structure of the Mass. Finally, a coloring page about a Catholic Saint teaches about Catholic History and saints. For example, these are terrific to teach at Mass, in addition to a pre-teaching activity to help prepare your students for the Sunday Mass.
