Have Fun with Bible Basics & October Mass Bulletin
Do your students have fun learning the basics of the Bible?
At the beginning of the year, I like to review the basics of the bible, in fun and easy ways.
This packet of activities is perfect for lesson plans about Bible Basics….this could be a WHOLE WEEK of lessons to help your students get comfortable with the bible!
It’s ready to print and teach and can be used for multiple lessons throughout the year. Students will be reading the bible, learning about the format and structure of the bible, and practicing how to look up passages using the book, chapter, and verse.
Bible Information Scavenger Hunt
Information cards can be placed around the room and students can find information and take notes on the graphic organizer. Students will learn about the number of books in the bible, bible sections, and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit in authoring the bible. Students can have more fun with this because they are learning bible basics while moving around the classroom.
Worksheet on Locating Bible Passages
This worksheet can be used to review the vocabulary of a bible (Title, Chapter, Verse, Footnotes). Students will label information on bible pages and practice looking up bible verses.
Bible Advice Task Cards (Pages 10-13)
Students use task cards to look up bible passages focused on advice from the bible. There are also discussion questions included for students to continue the learning after they have completed the basic task. Students practice bible basics while reflecting on behavior.
Bible Bugs and Animals Task Cards
Students use task cards to look up bible passages focused on animals and bugs in the bible..these semi-ridiculous task cards are a great way to add fun with Bible Basics. There are also discussion questions included for students to continue the learning after they have completed the basic task.
Fun with Bible Basics: Guess Who?
We also play “Bible Guess Who” to have fun with Bible Basics. I don’t have a handy print-out for this, but this Bible Bookshelf from Saint Mary’s Press would work great.
Students use the bookshelf to play (Affiliate Link) Guess Who with books of the bible instead of people. Each student chooses a ‘secret’ book, and they take turns asking ‘yes’ or ‘no’ questions to identify the other’s book. This helps students get used to the placement of the books in the Old and New Testament, as well as increased familiarity with the History, Pentateuch, Prophets, etc.
I try to include some type of game with each topic and this is an easy way for quiet students to get into a game without public pressure.
