Give Kids Something Better to Talk About Than Hallway Drama
Can we talk about the first 5 minutes of class?
Because those 5 minutes can be… interesting (without Catholic Daily Slides).
Kids walk in the door and immediately have 7 million things to say.
“Did you hear what happened?”
“Are they still friends?”
“Who got in trouble?”
“Who broke up?”
“Did you see what happened after school?”\

Now, I’m not saying kids shouldn’t talk. They need to talk. They need relationships. They need to connect with each other.
But a wise teacher once told me:
“If you don’t give kids something to talk about, they’ll find something to talk about.”
And that has always stuck with me.
Because it’s true.
Kids are going to have conversations. The question is… what kind of conversations are we helping them have?
That’s why I created these Catholic Daily Slides.
Instead of letting the first few minutes of class become a full recap of who is mad at who, students walk in and have something positive, faith-filled, and actually worth discussing.
And honestly? Sometimes that’s all it takes to shift the energy in the room.
These slides give students something to talk about right away, including:

🙏 A saint of the day (or saint spotlight) to help students learn about people who lived their faith in amazing ways
😂 A joke or trivia question because kids are still kids and they need a reason to laugh

And the discussion questions are a mix because, let’s face it, students need both.
Some days you’ll get the silly conversations:
“Would you rather have to sing everything you say or dance everywhere you go?”
And they will absolutely have a 10-minute debate about it. 😂
Other days you’ll get those surprisingly thoughtful conversations where students share about faith, kindness, forgiveness, and how they can follow Jesus.
Both are good.
Both build community.
Both are better than spending the first few minutes of class talking about who broke up between periods.
