Mass Bulletins & Fruit of the Spirit Retreat
Fruit of the Spirit Retreat for Middle School
Do you have retreats for your students? Each of our classes attends a retreat every year, and one of my favorites is the Middle School Fruit of the Spirit Retreat.
I’m a huge fan of ridiculous cutesy songs, so perhaps my love of the retreat is the excuse to sing this song but mostly it’s because of the easy connection students can make to the fruits.
They might not understand why they are called “Fruits,” however, they definitely connect to love, joy, kindness, etc. I tell them that the Fruits of the Holy Spirit are the GOOD THINGS that we gain from using the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, then we move into analyzing the Fruits in our lives.
You can find the retreat on TPT as a ready-to-use, full-day retreat. This retreat is full of active learning opportunities. Therefore, students will be reading, writing, moving, talking, laughing, and creating.
Details about the Fruit of the Spirit Retreat
There is an ENORMOUS PowerPoint that walks through every activity, a (small) supplies list, and a PDF of the handouts for activities. The PowerPoint can be projected the whole day so students can see and hear instructions every step of the way. Then, there are slides with expectations for behavior and images to help kids stay focused. In addition, the whole PowerPoint is editable so you can add your own details, expectations, and prompts as needed.
There are a few casual (and non-embarrassing) ice-breakers that focus on Joy, and reflections on gossip and popularity. There are also a few bible searches with a focus on the Prophets and King Solomon. This retreat has TWO self-assessments—one to identify the students’ strongest fruits, the other to open up a conversation about circles of trust in friendship.
If your students need a day to reflect on love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, head over to TPT and check out more about the Fruit of the Spirit Retreat!

If you’re not already an email subscriber to Catholic Kids Bulletins…enter your email on the left and you’ll be the first to know when new bulletins for ready.
The Catholic Kids Bulletin worksheets match up to the weekly Mass readings in the Catholic Church. There are coloring pages that match the weekly Gospel reading. In addition, there are activities throughout the month, along with Psalm copy work and a word search. The top of each bulletin outlines the liturgy so kids can follow along during Mass and learn the order and structure of the Mass. Each week, I highlight a Catholic Saint, this month it includes Saint Clare and Saint Rose of Lima! These help students focus at Mass, or as a pre-teaching activity to help prepare your students for the Sunday Mass.
